Relay Worker in our London region.
laura is doing Relay in London, supporting the Christian Unions in SOAS - School of Oriental and African Studies and University College London.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
I’ve loved being a part of CU as a student at SOAS, and benefited deeply from the support of relay workers gone before - so am extremely excited to carry on the baton (if you will) by serving my campus and the God that put me there! As I love to say - the Lord calls us to the nations, and the nations are at SOAS. In my first year of university I was extremely compelled and challenged by the person of Jesus, who says that he is “The way, the truth, and the life”, and the radical claims he made about evil, love, and justice. I often say that the more questions I had, the more answers Jesus seemed to offer, and through the patience of my friends and church I found myself confronted by the reality that Jesus was indeed The only way, truth, and life - and his claims demanded a response nothing short of my whole heart.
Spending the last two years on CU committee has been a real blessing, from the encouragement of events going ahead even when no one turns up to seeing my flatmate give her life to Jesus at a UCL lunch talk. I have seen firsthand the opportunity there is on our London campuses, and know that the harvest is plenty even when the workers are few.
I am so excited for a year ahead of training and sharing the good news of a Great God - and would love to chat more about how you can be praying for SOAS and UCL and me as I prepare to serve them this year!
