Arts Network Co-ordinator in our Wales region.
Becca Nunes is the Arts Network Co-ordinator based in Cardiff and working with Welsh Univeristies.
Becca's background is in Fine Art and History of Art, and she will be working in Wales with UCCF's Arts Network to equip and resource creative students. She will be supporting those studying within the arts to consider how to best engage with the challenges and opportunities of the arts, how to contribute well as creative Christians to the dynamic cultural landscape, and how to reach fellow creatives with the life altering message of the Gospel.
Becca herself came to university as a new Christian and benefited greatly from the work of UCCF Arts Network in strengthening her convictions that you can contribute robustly in the field of the arts as well as serving Christ faithfully. She is looking forward to supporting and caring for creative students and encouraging them in their own journeys of faith through University.
Becca is from the beautiful county of Carmarthenshire in West Wales and is a keen bird watcher, art history nerd, and can be found playing the occasional board game with her husband Matt.
The first time I went to university, I was a very young Christian just trying to find my feet and my faith in a new and scary environment (let me assure you that it’s a big step up from rural Carmarthenshire to the bustling city of Cardiff!!). As I reflect on my time as a bright-eyed 19 year old, I am so very thankful for the work of UCCF and in particular the Arts Network for investing in me and helping me to develop the confidence to engage well with my practice and studies, as well as helping me to see my fundamental need to grow in my love and worship of God and to share this with others.
University can be a stressful time, especially within the Arts and Humanities where you are presented with constant questions about that which shapes the very core of your identity, on top of high levels of coursework and critical engagement with the big questions circling our culture. However, it is also such an amazing time of growth, of insight and of learning to engage robustly with your peers about matters of faith and meaning. It is therefore my immense privilege to begin working with Art students in Cardiff, and to help students to navigate this landscape! I am excited to be part of God’s work within the Arts in Cardiff, seeing the Gospel spread across Arts campuses and seeing students equipped to share their faith and live radically for Christ.
It would mean ever so much if you would consider partnering alongside me, in any way that you are able, as I undertake this work.
Please give now to support Becca’s vital work with Christian Unions. We can’t do this without you.
