They will help you step out in boldness, create community and move you from a group of strangers to a bunch of mates.
As a weekend treat every Saturday night, why not choose a different cuisine to cook together? There are loads of options, you can all chip in for the food shop and cook together.
Get inspired by the idea pizza night (BYOT: Bring Your Own Toppings), a Mexican extravaganza (nachos, fajitas, burritos, sombreros and a homemade pinata essential!) or perhaps an Asian fusion or curry night. You could even go all out on an end of term dinner party (black tie optional), teaming up to host a three-course feast and after dinner entertainment.
If there are people in your flat from different countries, you can make them feel at home through taking an interest in their country, food and culture.
Not only will you be able to wow your parents at the end of term, but your flat dinner parties will create memories you’ll all share for years to come!
Show off those drama skills, get into character and see if you can work out ‘whodunnit?’
A murder mystery is relatively low maintenance to organise. You can choose the theme of the play and download the script online. Simply let your flat mates know their character and let the fun begin!
You could order a takeaway to enjoy across the night, or use this script and menu guide.
Grab your glowsticks, make a Spotify playlist of your favourite tunes and maybe even try a bit of DIY karaoke!
Your flat will probably have varying musical tastes. To keep everyone happy, ask each person to playlist of favourite tunes. You’ll soon have a mega-mix ranging from cheesy classics to dance anthems to Disney delights.
No disco ball? Stick some coloured cellophane onto the lights for an instant party atmosphere!
Whether it’s a favourite boardgame, playing cards, a scavenger hunt around your flat or a quiz for healthy competition, a games night is a sure way of bringing your flat together.
Maybe a good old-fashioned game of Monopoly or Articulate is what you’re after? Or maybe you’d rather check out these app suggestions for games that are great to play as a group.
Either way, gather your flat, bring snacks or chuck a load of pizzas in the oven and be prepared for a late night of uber competitive fun.

Host an all-in flat ‘Bake-Off’ challenge, choosing a theme and letting each flat member create a (hopefully) edible showstopper to then be enjoyed during the evening and beyond.
University is a great time to learn what it means to give yourself to others – to love sacrificially and to show them generosity and care. Sharing stories around a table, laughing and sometimes crying together will build friendships and hopefully lead to opportunities where you can speak truth and life into your new friends’ lives.
1 Thessalonians 2:8 says:
Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.
So go big at the Bake Off and sing your heart out at kitchen karaoke. These things matter to God.
And when you are feeling weary from party planning, dinner doesn’t quite go as planned or you burn your showstopper, don’t be dismayed – but look to the One who sustains you.
He delights in seeing us step out in boldness and creativity for Him.
