Written by Charlotte, Relay Worker with Glasgow Caledonian University Christian Union, widely known as Caley CU.
'I have already been deeply encouraged to see how God has not only been transforming my heart and character, but also the students at Caley.'
Relay started just last month, yet I have already been consistently reminded of the reasons why I chose Relay. Whilst studying, I came to recognise the urgency of university evangelism, alongside the joy and privilege it is to share Jesus with my peers. So, when the opportunity presented itself to continue supporting reaching students with the gospel, while being discipled, I knew it was a journey I had to endeavour.
Relay began with Forum, a five-day conference to equip CU leaders for mission. Forum proved to be a valuable time that reminded Caley CU and me of the critical yet exciting opportunity we have to share the gospel with the students in Glasgow. The teaching in Gideon has helped shift Caley CU’s focus on God and His power to work through us.
I’d love to invite you to join me in prayer, asking that this year Caley CU will remember that God wants their heart over their success, whether they are studying or evangelising on campus.
My daily life as a Relay Worker with Caley CU has a focus on growing my Christ-like character through weekly one-to-ones with a CU Staff Worker and studying theology, as well as partnering with Caley CU in mission. In practice, this involves having Bible studies with students over coffee, supporting the CU in their evangelism such as flyering for events, building relationships with CU members, and providing encouragement in the gospel. I have already been deeply encouraged to see how God has not only been transforming my heart and character, but also the students at Caley.
Having previously studied in a different part of the city and on a different mission field, I am looking forward to seeing a wider picture on how God is advancing His Kingdom in Glasgow universities. I expect Relay to be year of faith, marked by unwavering confidence that God is with me throughout the highlights and hardships. I am looking forward to the ways God will teach me to be entirely dependent on His strength.
Your prayers to fully rely on God and for Caley's campus to come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour would be greatly appreciated.
