'Pray that, like Peter, we would want to expand the witness and welcome of God to those around us. Pray for conviction and encouragement from the Father' - student at Lampeter Campus, University of Wales Trinity St. David.
If we go back at the very start of September, it was the last evening meeting of Forum, our conference where 1,000 student leaders are equipped for a mission in their universities. At the end of the meeting, each student received a post-it and the question, 'how can we pray?'. Cue the next morning and it's the final main meeting. Each seat in the huge marquee has a prayer post-it left on it. Everyone is invited to spend time praying in pairs.
Now, we can join in that opportunity to pray for Christian Unions across Great Britain more widely. Whether you're a supporter, CU member, or lecturer, we invite you to pray with us.
'Pray that we do not shy away from reaching out to the social outcasts, to the socially ‘popular’ people – that we don’t limit the gospel out of fear.'
Pray for 'a boldness and passion to see people come to Christ and watch others grow in their faith. For a hunger and a heart for members to take [their faith] into their lives rather than it be ‘their thing’ they do an evening during the week.'
Pray 'that we will have boldness and not be ashamed to stand out. Also, that we will maintain unity within the CU.'
Pray 'that all we do as a CU will flow out of love of Jesus; that admin won't get in the way of our love and worship of him.'
Pray that 'CU would be so welcoming of those that don’t know Him.'
Pray for 'souls to be saved. For us to be faithful and pursue every good work for Jesus’ glory. For us members of Bangor CU to continually be servants across our city.'
Pray that they may have 'courage to share the gospel in a very small university where you know everyone.' May they stand firm and not be 'dragged into the self-absorbed of the arts and finding worth in own abilities and affirmation'.
Pray for 'a real push for evangelism at Barts CU, that we would grow in boldness. We would put love for God above fear of awkwardness when sharing Jesus with friends.'
'Pray for new freshers to feel welcomed – both Christians and seekers. Pray for the rest of college, that our meetings would be a place where they can come and ask questions. Pray our CU would be a light to the rest of college.'
Thank you for your prayers. We believe prayer is essential to our work, in giving every student the chance to hear the gospel. To pray for other CUs not listed here, sign up for our fortnightly prayer emails: Focus.
